青金石的谱学研究及其意义

摘 要: 青金石是一种兰色的宝石(或高档玉石),本文以吸收光谱(SP),顺磁共振谱(EPR),核磁共振谱(NMR)与红外光谱(IR)为手段,研究了兰色青金石颜色的本质。指出除过渡金属离子是着色离子外,按分子轨道理论,不同价态的硫离子(S2--S3--S6+)在青金石结构中共存是此矿物具不同颜色的本质原因;其结构中存在水降低了电子能级间的能量差,使其宝石色泽更加艳丽。青金石的谱学研究,不但阐明了颜色的本质,评价了青金石宝石的级别,指导了宝石的合成;而且也可以从青金五颜色深浅变化及结构有序化判断青金石形成的物理化学环境,从而推断青金石的矿床成因。

A STUDY ON SPECTROSCOPY OF LAZURITE AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE

Abstract:One of the most important attributes of a gem mineral is its color. Theorigin of color and crystal chemistry of lazurite was studied by means ofabsorption spectra, paramagnetic resonance spectra, nuclear magnetic reson-ance spectra, infrared spectra and x-ray analysis in this paper. An isotropicproperty and presence of S3- were established by EPR studies of lazurite.The 6000A absorption has been attributed to the presence of S3 - and 4000Aabsorption to either S2- or SO42-. The origin of the blue color of lazurite wasinterpreted by molecular orbital theory. It is suggested that not only tran-sition metal elements are coloured ions, but also sulfur elements of differentvalence are. If the differences between electric energy levels are decreaseddue to the water contained in crystal structure of gem, the color of gemappears very beautiful. Both hydroxyl and water in the two lazurite--deepblue lazusite(DL)and pale blue lazusite(PL), were established by IR andNMR spectra. The spectroscopic and optical study has shown there are two forms oflazurite: cube and noncube systems. The ordering of sulfur ion (S2- and S3-)in lazurite structure indicates that lazurite transforms from cube intononcube with decreased temperatures. The study of spectroscopy on lazurite is also of importance to thesearch for lazurite deposits.
